It was her signature line that we all came to know and love while she competed on Bravo's top chef.

She is an entrepreneur of the food world who wasn't originally on that path, or at least it didn't look like it.

She started out in Nashville, Tennessee, studied business at Howard University, did a brief stint in accounting for Pricewaterhouse Coopers,

but before leaving all of it behind to travel Europe,

where she discovered a passion for all things culinary. Cooking with love is the central ingredient

in all her cookbooks, and most recently her very first restaurant opened this past June,

Carla Hall's Southern Kitchen, described as a love letter to Nashville, which is now in Brooklyn, New York.

Oh, and she's also a co-host on the Emmy Award-winning series, The Chew. No big deal there.
