Summary

As a Christian, have you ever shared something from a heart of love, only to be mischaracterized and misunderstood based on a misconception about what Christians actually believe? I see it in the comments section of my blog all the time. In today's podcast, I discuss the Nashville Statement and some very popular misconceptions about "Traditional Christians." Why do I use the term "Traditional Christian"? Well, because often these misconceptions are perpetuated by more liberal and progressive Christians, as well as atheists.Footnotes:www.alisachilders.com/blog/5-popular…ders-podcast-5 (%5C)

Hey friends, Elisa Childers here. Have you ever been talking with someone or even sharing

0:17.6

your faith or beliefs with someone? Only to be misunderstood. Only to be stereotyped

0:23.1

and have your motivations questioned as well as your actual character? Well, stay tuned.

As today we're going to talk about five common misconceptions about traditional Christians.

0:49.0

Several months ago I wrote a blog post called Five Popular Misconceptions of Traditional

0:55.1

Christians and I've never posted it because each time that I go to post it I just have this

1:02.0

hesitation because I think that when we write about controversial topics or we talk about

1:09.4

topics that others could perceive as hostile there's a tendency to read disagreement with a tone

1:15.7

in which it wasn't intended. And what I mean is that when someone reads a post that might be about

1:22.5

something that they are for but the post is against they can read into it a hostile tone or even a

1:30.6

hateful attitude that's actually not there. So in my case I've actually been contacted by a

1:36.2

couple of people who would be more on the liberal or progressive side of things who expressed

1:41.6

some surprise when they actually heard my speaking voice because when they were reading one of my

1:46.8

articles in which I was taking issue with something that they agreed with they were reading into it

1:52.0

a hostile tone. And so when they heard the heart behind it it's sort of softened things. And so I

1:57.0

decided not to do this in blog form but rather to do a podcast because then hopefully the heart behind

2:04.8

what is being said will come through. Because I actually don't have a heart of hostility or anger

2:12.2

toward progressive Christians or liberal Christians I actually have a heart for them

2:17.1

because I have a heart for everyone. I have a heart for people in general to experience and embrace

2:23.2

the fullness of what it means to follow Jesus. And we can learn what that is through

2:31.3

historic and traditional Christianity. So let's talk about that word traditional Christians.

2:36.6

That's part of the title is misconceptions of traditional Christians. Now it's very difficult
