0:21.5	to trans people and don't say gay and so on and so forth, there was one that I just didn't
0:26.4	get the opportunity to talk about on the show.
0:28.2	In fact, I think much of the discussion around it happened when I was when I was away.
0:32.7	The Florida legislature has ultimately passed this very extreme anti trans bathroom bill
0:38.7	as well as a ban on gender affirming care.
0:41.8	And the details of the bills are all of the things that you would imagine.
0:45.2	It would penalize providers by putting criminal penalties when gender affirming care is
0:50.9	given in certain situations.
0:52.6	It would take licenses away from providers.
0:54.3	It would prohibit Medicare from covering gender affirming care for trans youth or adults
0:59.7	at prohibits public funds.
1:01.2	It's sort of like the full package that they've tried and sometimes done on abortion over
1:07.2	the last 20 years going in the direction of trans.
1:10.4	Now, there's a particular detail about the debate that I want to look at with you.
1:15.3	This is not new.
1:16.3	This happened, this happened a couple of weeks ago, but it's just an extraordinary reminder
1:22.0	of the insanity that is taking place in Florida.
1:24.3	I'm going to play a clip for you here of a Republican, a Republican representative,
1:29.8	Webster Barnaby, who said during a completely bonkers rant, debating HB 1521, which is the
1:39.7	bill that we're talking about here, criminalizing trans people for using restrooms that correspond
1:44.0	to their gender identity, all these different things I mentioned.
