0:23.9	many emails over the weekend about the debt ceiling and the bill that may have been
0:28.9	reached to avoid defaulting on US debt.
0:33.0	And many of you were saying, David, why haven't you been covering this?
0:37.8	Why aren't you covering this?
0:39.4	And it is true.
0:40.4	Other than I believe it was just one story on the world famous award-winning bonus show.
0:46.0	I have not spoken about the debt ceiling debate, controversy, whatever you want to call
0:52.0	it.
0:53.0	And that has not been by accident.
0:54.4	It's been on purpose.
0:55.4	And I want to explain to you why.
0:56.7	And then I want to hear from you.
0:58.0	Does this make sense or should I have been talking about it all along?
1:01.3	Now as a reminder, the debt ceiling is the legal limit on how much the federal government
1:05.9	can borrow to pay its bills.
1:08.5	And importantly, it has nothing to do with new spending.
1:11.9	When we talk about the debt ceiling, we're talking about borrowing to honor prior obligations
1:19.3	already approved by Congress.
1:21.5	So when people wanted to bait, well, we should allow the US to default because I'm against
1:27.5	the inflation reduction actor, whatever the case may be.
