Summary

The past year has been anything but normal but we press on as usual with our annual awards show. Unlike in years past, we are eliminating runner-ups and honorable mentions in favor of a coordinated effort that eliminates any overlap between our choices. That means more games are honored in each category! In part 1, we discuss the following categories:

  • Best New Gameplay Experience
  • Best Sequel
  • Best Game Feel
  • Most Addictive

This episode includes a short sample from Brad's favorite soundtrack of the year: Creaks

Part 2 will be available on Tuesday, January 19th

Hey everyone, welcome to 4Player Podcast. This is episode 667. This is our 2020 award show. My name is Nick Henderson. I am joined tonight by Brad Simons.

0:45.6

Hello, go, go, go. Ed Mitchell. Hi. Christopher Guthridge. Hello. And Nolan Hedstrom. How's it going, everybody?

1:14.6

And so we do this little show every single year. It's a great way... Sorry, I just, I don't know what I'm... I can't speak tonight. It's great... It's great... Start it all over. It started all over. Oh, God. Back to square one. It's a great way to look back at the year we just had and talk about all the great games and maybe not so great games that we've played. We're going to go over, I think it's like 21, 22 categories.

1:19.6

But we're going to do it a little bit differently this year than we had in years past.

1:24.6

So in years past we usually do like a run, we each do a runner-up, maybe

1:28.4

even two, and honorable mentions, and then our final choice. This year, in the interest

1:32.9

of time, and also allowing us to talk about more games, more actual games per category,

1:38.6

we're not doing any runner-ups. We're not doing any honorable mentions. But each one of us

1:42.6

is picked a game, and there is no overlap across any of these categories.

1:46.6

So each category, we're going to have five.

1:49.8

There's overlap across the categories, but in each category there's no overlap.

1:54.7

Right, exactly, exactly.

1:56.3

So, yeah, so each category, we'll talk about five games and why we think they represent the best, or why they're the best choice for that category.

2:04.0

Of course, we're going to do our soundtrack of the year as we always do during the break, so stick around for that.

2:08.6

And I also want to mention that as of this morning, the community top 10 games of 2020 is live.

2:15.1

It's on 4Player Network.com. Check it out. It's a pretty rock solid list.

2:19.4

And it was put together from all of you guys out there who participated, submitted your
