0:18.0	Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. For the second straight day,
0:23.8	we have news from the special teams. Kicker update. After two days of tryouts, the 49ers
0:35.2	have made their decision and signed veteran kicker Matt Gay to the
0:38.8	practice squad. Ironically, he was the guy the commander's cut before they signed Jake Moody.
0:44.4	If you can believe it, you should because Gay has not been good this season. He's made just
0:48.9	68% of his kicks this year. The good news, there is any, is that he has been good from close.
0:56.5	He's 9 of 10 from inside 50 yards.
0:59.5	Last season, Gay was 31 of 37, but he was perfect from inside 50 yards, 28 for 28.
1:06.9	Clearly, this is a bit of an act of faith by the 49ers, but there is a little bit of hope
1:12.0	that they know what they're doing here.
1:13.7	As Eric Branch pointed out on Twitter, the Niners have signed five fill-in kickers due to
1:20.0	injuries from 2019 to 2024.
1:23.6	The results?
1:24.8	Pretty good.
1:26.0	Chase McGoughlin, Tristan Viskayano, Joey Sly, Matthew Wright, and Anders Carlson have combined to make 25 of 27 attempts.
1:35.0	So maybe the Niners will keep that luck going.
1:37.7	Or maybe Kyle Shanahan will just get a little more aggressive and stop kicking field goals, which you know this host would support.
1:45.7	By the way, in order to make room for Gay on the practice squad, the Niners released wide
