I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Friday, March 6, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Kyle Shanahan is not going to announce the full coaching staff for this year until the

owner's meetings at the end of the month, but we did get a couple of additions yesterday.

First, according to Tom Pelliserro of NFL media, Matt Eberfluse is joining the staff as

the team's assistant head coach of defense.

He fills the role vacated by Gus Bradley, who of course followed Robert Sala to Tennessee.

Iber flus was the Cowboys defensive coordinator last year, and I know, I know what you're thinking,

the Cowboys defense was Buns last year, and that is very true.

But that's why it's a very good thing

that Iber Fluse won't be coordinating the defense, Rahim Morris will. The question is,

what exactly is Iber Fluse going to be doing? Well, we don't know for sure, but he does have

extensive history as a linebacker's coach. And remember, the 49ers traditionally have

liked defensive coordinators with linebacker experience. Rahim Morris doesn't have that. He's got

experience in the secondary. So maybe Iber Fluse can help in that area. Not only did he coach the

position for years in college, he also spent nine years in the NFL as a linebacker's coach before

becoming a defensive coordinator. And he actually has some success stories in that area. He helps

Sean Lee become an all pro with the Cowboys in 2016. And he was the defensive coordinator of

the Colts when Shaq Leonard was an all propro and one defensive rookie of the year in 2018.

Again, none of this has been reported.

That's me speculating, but I'm just trying to connect some dots here.

He could also potentially be seen as insurance in case Rahim Morris leaves the team for a head
