I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Monday, April 28, 2025. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Normally, today is the day we review the entire draft class, and we will, but first,

we have to get to the news that broke after Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch had their post-draft press conference.

Safety Malik Mustafa could miss up to half the season after he injured his knee in the final game

of the year against the Cardinals when he got cleated early in the second quarter.

Now there seems to be some uncertainty on the actual injury.

Adam Schaefter described it as a torn ACL.

Nick Wagoner of ESPN said that Mustafa damaged the graft they had

put in from his previous ACL tear. So it's a bit different than just an ACL. No meniscus or

cartilage damage. And as Wagner writes, no definitive timeline, though midseason estimate is probably

just being cautious.

Apparently, everybody thought Mustafa was going to be okay at the time.

I actually went back and listened to Kyle Shanahan after the game, who said that Mustafa, quote,

cut his knee up and bruised it.

Later in the week, however, an MRI revealed that the graft that had been placed

in the knee was torn. Now, Mustafa has already had surgery. In fact, he had it months ago after

they found out about the injury for what it's worth. He responded to the news on X, calling

the timeline of midseason, quote, crazy. Either way, we may be seeing fifth rounder

Marquis Siegel sooner than we thought. As for the actual draft, the Niners made 11 picks. I'm sure

you know him by now, but we'll run through him quickly. Mikel Williams, Edge from Georgia in round
