Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Wednesday, October 29th, 2025. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. The Niners added some

reinforcements to their depleted defensive line yesterday. After the Panthers signed Travis Gibson,

there were only three healthy defensive ends on the roster. John Lynch had to do something

and he did first. He traded a sixth round pick in next year's draft for Patriots

defensive lineman Keon White and a seventh round pick. So what did the Niners get? Well,

White is 26 years old. He was a second round pick of the Bill Belichick Patriots in 2023. He had five

sacks last year, but he hasn't done much this season because he sort of fell out

of favor with the new regime, Mike Vrable, in New England. He was actually a healthy scratch last week,

so that should show you where he was standing in New England. And for the Niners, he can play inside

and outside. Last season, White was one of only four defensive linemen to play at least 15% of the

snaps at both edge and defensive tackle.

And most important, he is under contract for less than $2.5 million next season.

And remember, Kyle Shanan has consistently said if the Niners were

going to make a trade, it had to be something that not only helped them for this year, but also

could help them next year. Clearly, Keon White is going to be part of the Niners' plans in

2026. But that's not all. In addition to Keon White, the Niners also signed a familiar face to their practice squad,

adding defensive lineman Cleland Farrell yesterday.

Farrell, you may remember, started all 17 games for the Niners back in 2023 when he had

three and a half sacks.

He played one game for Jim Harbaugh's Chargers this season,
