0:13.4	I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Monday, April 1st, 2024. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.
0:21.5	The Niners may have found their new backup tight end, but it is a little complicated.
0:26.8	Don't worry, I will explain everything.
0:29.3	San Francisco extended an offer sheet to restricted free agent tight end Brock Wright of the
0:34.6	Detroit Lions.
0:36.1	Now, it's a little complicated because the Niners have offered
0:38.4	him three years, $12 million, with $6 million of that fully guaranteed, according to Adam Schaefter.
0:44.9	Because Wright is a restricted free agent, the Lions have until Wednesday to decide whether
0:50.8	or not they want to match that contract. If they do, Wright goes back to the Lions and
0:55.9	the 49ers are SOL. But if Detroit declines to match the offer, then the Niners get right. They
1:02.7	don't know the Lions any compensation whatsoever. Now, I know what you're wondering. Who is
1:08.0	Brock Wright? Well, he's a backup tight end with the Detroit Lions. He's been there for
1:12.3	three years. He was an undrafted free agent in 2021. He had just 14 catches for 91 yards last year,
1:18.6	but he was 20th among all tight ends in blocking snap. So clearly, we know what his role is going
1:24.4	to be with the 49ers. And as David Lombardi pointed out, right went to Notre Dame where he was a fullback,
1:30.5	Hback type of guy.
1:31.6	So it's possible he could be kind of the Kyle Eusecheck understudy, maybe for the 49ers.
1:38.1	He also was a teammate of current 49ers guard Aaron Banks when they were both at Notre Dame.
1:43.2	We'll keep an eye on that.
1:47.5	Again, the Lions have until Wednesday to decide to match.
1:52.7	The other story you might have seen, and don't get worried about this one, there was a report from Mike Garifolo of NFL media that the Niners and Brandon Ayyuk are far apart in contract
