Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Friday, January 16th, 26th. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. We'll get to the podium in a minute,

but we begin as we always do with the injury report. The following players will be out for the game

against the Seahawks, Jaya Brown, who didn't practice all week, and unfortunately Fred Warner.

He did not practice yesterday. He hasn't had a setback,

but he will not play, though he will travel with the team. The following players are questionable.

Jacob Cowing, who was a full participant all week, Luke Gifford, who was limited yesterday, Yitor Gross Matos, who didn't practice yesterday.

Ricky Pearsall and De Winters, both of them, were limited.

Now, to the podium, of course, we know Ricky Pearsall is one of the biggest injury questions we had going into the week.

He's been practicing, as I said, but he was practicing last week and they really haven't been going that hard in practice anyway, so that doesn't really give us a clue. How about this? Let's go to Ricky himself. Ricky, what's going on with you? Yeah, you guys saw me practicing last week, but if you really saw me practicing, like, I couldn't really lift up my leg, you know, very well. So I was trying to get back. But this week, it gave me a little bit more of optimism that I'm going to be playing this week. And yeah, I'm getting more confident. Pierceall also said he can't really take any direct hits on that knee and that he's going to have to play a little differently the rest of the year because it's never really going to be 100%. We all know how important he is to the offense.

There is no question about it.

But considering what he just said,

Kyle Shanahan has to figure that he may be out on any play.

He cannot plan to have Ricky Pearsall for this entire game.

You need a backup plan.

And that sucks because Ricky is really damn good.

Now, speaking of Kyle Shanahan, going into the week last week, he told the team they have to play desperate.

I assume Kyle that that applies this week as well.

I think our advantage in the season is we play desperate every game.

I feel like that's what gives us an advantage over most teams that we play against.

And that's last week was more.

That's not an advantage in the playoffs.
