I'm Rob Stats Carrera. Today is Friday, April 10th, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. John Lynch added some depth to

the defensive line yesterday, signing defense event Cam Sample. He's 26 years old. He's played his

entire NFL career with the Bengals. He was originally chosen in the fourth round of the

2021 NFL draft.

This is not a superstar signing.

This is a depth piece.

Sample has been a backup for most of his career.

He has just five starts in the NFL.

Last year, he had two sacks in 14 games.

Hooray, defensive line depth.

Let's move to the audio portion of the show.

We are less than two weeks away from the NFL draft.

And as we get into who we want the Niners to pick and who they like and all that stuff,

Adam Schaefter gave us a very important piece of advice on his podcast this week. I remember speaking specifically to the San Francisco 49ers who said

to me, get ready for the second round. We love this tight end named Gerald Everett. I had a subsequent

conversation with the Los Angeles Rams who said, get ready. We love this tight end named Gerald Everett. And lo and behold, the team that

got him was the Los Angeles Rams with the 44th overall pick in the 2017 draft. The Los Angeles Rams

selected Gerald Everett. The 49ers lost out on the tight end that they wanted in that draft.

And lo and behold, three rounds later, the 49ers turned in another pick for another tight end,

having lost out on the tight end they wanted. With the 146th selection in the 2017 NFL draft, the 49ers selected, tight end, George Kittle.

And there is your lesson right there. Sometimes you hear about teams wanting these players,
