Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Monday, June 16th, 2025. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Despite what Indiana told us a few weeks ago, C.J. West did not sign his rookie contract with the 49ers.

That is, until Friday.

News broke last week that the Niners have inked the fourth round pick to a four-year contract,

leaving only Alfred Collins unsigned from the 11-man draft class. Now, normally, I don't do 49ers-and-5 during the 40 days of death

before training camp, but I want to try something new this year because I don't like leaving

you high and dry. We're still going to cover news if it happens, but if it doesn't, what we're going to do is a quick preview of some of the most

important players on the 49ers roster for the upcoming season.

I'll try and find interesting nuggets and stats and interview clips and all that stuff.

We can take a look at some of these guys because there isn't a ton of news, but I want to

put something out for you because you're coming to me for 49ers content and I want to provide that. So since C.J. West

just signed, let's start with him. He is on the 49ers to do one thing and one thing only. Stop

the run. Now, it's not sexy. It won't fill up a stat sheet, but that is the barometer

of success for C.J. West. If he gets any sacks this year, great. That's the cherry on the

Sunday. That's the gravy on the turkey. But really, the meat and potatoes for C.J. West to continue

the food analogy is going to be stop the run and not down the road I'm talking immediately

when he gets in there the Niners allowed 125 rushing yards per game last season and almost

four and a half yards per carry they simply could not stop the bleeding so can CJ West do

that well to hear him tell it, yeah. I got a really quick

first step, but I feel like my game is how violent I am when I play. I play with a lot of violence.

I want to just abuse the offensive line as much as I can and just wear him down throughout the game.
