I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Thursday, May 25th, 2023. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Oh, it's that time of year again.

The Chris Sims quarterback rankings are out, and the 49ers have two signal callers on the list.

We'll start with Brock Purdy, since he is the presumed starter.

He appears at number 26, and here is what Chris liked from old number 13.

He seems to feel phenomenal.

For a rookie quarterback, he's an unbelievable decision maker, unbelievable feel for the game,

like overall, okay, take a sack, okay, throw it away, whatever, right?

You know, and then like maturity beyond belief in some of the nuanced things he does

for a rookie quarterback, right? He's got veteran eyes already. I mean, when you start to watch

purdy, you start to start to go, damn, he's kind of, he's dropping back,

and he dropped back, and he's looking over at 10 o'clock. And as he's getting ready to throw,

he's still looking at 10 o'clock, and boom, he throws it to 1 o'clock, right? Because he's just

going to look you off because he knows, oh, wait, this is the coverage, I got it. So he's nuanced that way. That's where he's damn good.

That's a pretty good scouting report. And I didn't even leave in the part where Chris praised his escapeability in the pocket. In fact, the only real negative that Chris listed for

Brock is that he could shorten up his throwing motion a little bit, which I haven't even

looked at before, so I can't even tell you, honestly.

The other interesting thing is that one spot down on the list at number 27 was another 49ers quarterback, and it wasn't Trey Lance. It was Sam Darnel. Listen to Chris rave about old Sammy D.

Sam Darnold has some things about his physical ability and skill set that are legit.

Like when you turn on the film and you go, damn, that's above average NFL quarterback type stuff right there.
