0:14.1	I'm Rob Stats Carrere. Today is Wednesday, February 19th, 2025. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.
0:22.3	One of the longest tenured linebackers on the 49ers will not be with the team in
0:27.4	2025. The Niners announced yesterday they have released Demetrius Flanagan Foles.
0:32.6	He had been with the team since 2020, playing primarily on special teams.
0:38.0	Now, they didn't really have a choice.
0:39.7	Because Flanagan Foles went on IR with what was deemed a minor injury,
0:44.7	the Niners were required to release him when he got cleared.
0:48.9	And oh, by the way, he was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent next month anyway.
0:53.4	Obviously, we know he wasn't a starter
0:55.4	for the 49ers defense, but he does have over 1,200 snaps on special teams over the last
1:02.0	half decade. That is a significant amount of playing time that the Niners are going to have to
1:07.7	replace. Brant Boyer, of course, is the new special teams coordinator.
1:11.7	I imagine he's probably going to want to get, you know, a couple of his own guys, so to speak,
1:16.5	on that unit.
1:17.4	So I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and snag some Jets free agents when the new league
1:22.8	year begins.
1:24.1	Obviously, we know the Niners special teams unit needs a vast, vast improvement. And as I
1:29.4	just said, there's a lot of snaps that somebody is going to have to fill next season.
