0:20.0	happening with your San Francisco 49ers.
0:22.9	We finally got another name on the Niners interview list for defensive coordinator, and that
0:27.8	name is Chief's defensive back coach Dave Merritt. Now, if you're unfamiliar with Merritt,
0:33.3	here's a little bit about him. First, he helped coach up Kansas City's defense to beat the 49ers into Super Bowl, obviously.
0:40.9	They had the fourth best pass defense in the entire league last season.
0:45.5	Merritt actually checks a lot of boxes on the 49ers wish list for this position.
0:50.6	First of all, he has experience coaching every level of the defense.
0:55.0	Defensive line, yes, linebackers, and secondary.
0:58.9	He played linebacker in the NFL.
1:01.5	He has an incredible amount of experience.
1:03.4	He's been with Steve Spagnolo for a long time, both with the Giants and the Chiefs.
1:08.2	The other thing is he has five, count them five Super Bowl rings. That is
1:14.5	instant credibility that he brings to the 49ers locker room. Even though he would be a quote
1:19.6	unquote outsider, so to speak, you throw those rings on the table. Players are going to perk up,
1:24.6	especially when he's part of the coaching staff that pretty much
1:27.6	clamp down your offense in the second half of the Super Bowl.
1:31.2	So we'll see where that goes, but that's obviously a name that is very exciting for some 49ers fans.
1:37.1	Also, in addition to interviewing Merritt, the Niners completed their interview with Daniel Bullock's
1:43.8	for the same position.
1:45.2	Obviously Bullocks, of course, is in-house already with the 49ers.
