Good morning and welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Tuesday, August 12th, 2025. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Kyle Shanahan all but admitted the wide receiver room is totally up for grabs.

But before we get there, we begin as we always do with injuries.

15 players didn't participate in practice Monday due to injury.

And let's run through the list.

It is lengthy.

Joanne Jennings, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, Jordan James, Isaac Garendo, Renardo Green,

Upton Stout, Trey Brown, Fabian Moreau, Richie Grant, Robert Beale, Jr., Kevin Givens, Jordan Elliott, Sam Okuano,

and Mikel Williams.

The Jordan Watkins injury is a killer because he didn't even know he suffered the high ankle

sprain until after the game against the Broncos.

And when you consider all the other injuries in that wide receiver room, this one really hurts.

Even Kyle Shinnahan admitted that Watkins was going to have a role for this team early on.

It's kind of been an obvious situation to me for a while.

So it's stuff we're working on and stuff we're trying to really put pressure on these younger guys.

So I was really unfortunate for Watkins to get that step back because I really believed he could have helped us early, but he needed the practice to do it to be able to help us. So it's a minor setback for him. He'll get back. Hopefully he's back around then, but I'll sling to pick up on the practice time and stuff like that and gives opportunities for a lot more guys. So all these guys have got opportunities to make our team this year.

Opportunities to help us here, definitely in week one.

But it's a lot more open than it's ever been before.

In addition to the guys that didn't participate on Monday, we got some other news.

Upton Stout hopefully is going to be back for the joint Bactus, even though he didn't go yesterday.

Renardo Green's going to miss the whole week, unfortunately. Jacob Cowing should be back for the joint backness, even though he didn't go yesterday. Renardo Green's going to miss the whole week, unfortunately.
