| 1:12.5 | And you've had a bit of a rocky road and you've been so public about your experience to help |
| 1:18.4 | other women. So tell me what got you into politics. And then we're going to talk about what's |
| 1:22.8 | penis politics. Okay. Great. Well, I got into politics because I had been a journalist. I had gone to |
| 1:32.1 | Ole Miss and majored in journalism and political science. And I just was trying to decide, do I want to be a |
| 1:39.5 | journalist or do I really want to be in the middle of things? And I decided at some point that politics was my calling. |
| 1:47.9 | So I went to work for a man who ran for Congress. |
| 1:53.2 | He became the first black congressman from Mississippi since Reconstruction. |
| 1:59.0 | And Mississippi has the highest black percentage of any state. And so it was |
| 2:04.5 | about time that someone was their voice in Washington, D.C. and spoke to their issues. And I was |
| 2:11.7 | really passionate about the entire campaign and how we worked so hard to try to elect him. |
| 2:19.4 | Because I felt like growing up in Mississippi, which is one of the poorest states in the country, |
