Summary

The tabernacle is made of steel, but has two bronze-colored doors, said the bishop. Bergie suspected that perhaps the thieves thought the tabernacle was made of gold, or perhaps had a more nefarious intent with stealing the hosts. “Who knows what goes through the minds of these people,” he said. A tabernacle full of conscrated Hosts was stolen from St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral in Ontario, Canada. Security footage shows two people, a man and a woman, breaking into the cathedral at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 – the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The tabernacle is not made of precious materials, but is made of steel, with two bronze-colored doors. Bishop Gerard Bergie of St. Catharines went on the radio pleading for the two thieves to return it, saying: “The tabernacle can be replaced. It’s the contents, that is what is so precious to us. That’s what’s irreplaceable.” Dr Taylor Marshall provides analysis. Two thieves broke into the cathedral and stole the Tabernacle. There is video footage of it. And the strange thing about it is this

0:27.1

tabernacle is not made of precious materials. The tabernacle at St. Catharines is steel with bronze doors which means

0:41.5

it's basically except for the bronze which isn't that expensive. It's basically, except for the bronze, which isn't that expensive, it's basically made of what would be considered scrap metal.

0:49.0

So there's not much financial incentive for these thieves to steal this

0:55.8

tabernacle in Ontario, which leads to another motive, what would be the motive?

1:04.3

If the tabernacle itself is only made of steel,

1:07.7

which is not a precious metal, what are they looking for?

1:11.0

Something much more precious than silver or gold,

1:15.4

the precious body of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1:20.6

And I think this is why it was stolen.

1:22.0

I could be wrong.

1:23.0

But why would they go through all the trouble of breaking into a building, risking arrest,

1:28.0

being on video footage surveillance, only to steal a steel box. They're stealing steel, not precious. I think they're

1:38.9

not after the metal. They're after the contents because this is related to the occult

1:45.3

witchcraft and offending the one true God our Lord Jesus Christ. Before I get into

this I'll talk about the details of this sacrilege.

It's not just a theft.
