Today, the Bible Study podcast continues a study on Christian maturity with prayer.

We're in the middle of a six-part study on Christian maturity, and I want to talk about prayer today. We talked about Bible study, which seemed natural for a podcast about Bible study, and also talked about fear last week. And what do we do in response to fear? And that is going to be pray.

Now, we've done a whole study, a three-part study on prayer on the Bible study podcast,

episodes four, five, and sixth. We dealt with things like the Lord's Prayer and some of the beginning lessons in the Bible on prayer. And I'm not going to cover those this time.

But I want to talk about some of the more advanced verses, because we're talking about maturity

here about prayer. We're going to start with Philippians 4, verses 4 through 8. Rejoice in the Lord always,

I say it again, rejoice. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be

anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving,

present your requests to God, and the peace of God,

which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,

whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable.

If anything is excellent or worthy of praise,

think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me,

put into practice, and the God of peace will be with you. So we're talking here about prayer

specifically in this context here of you're in the midst of things

that are causing you to be worried. If you've caught that, don't be anxious but. Don't be

anxious but in everything, prayer and partition. Paul encourages us, first of all, here to rejoice.
