0:40.0	Right, stand up. Well it's a kind of comedy, right?
0:44.2	We all know what comedy is.
0:46.7	You get things like comedy movies and things like that and comedy TV programs, sitcoms, situation comedies like friends that we all know from TV, but also
0:58.0	stand-up comedy is another form of comedy performance and it's very popular and famous in the UK and in
1:06.4	America but it's not so famous in other countries.
1:10.0	Basically what stand-up is is it's very simple. You just have an audience of people so that could be in a comedy club or in a
1:21.3	nightclub or a pub or something but a large audience and then one
1:26.6	person stands up in front of this audience on a stage with a microphone and tries to make everyone laugh.
1:35.0	So you just have to stand there and talk to the audience and make them laugh.
1:38.0	So it's really just a person standing up with a microphone trying to make everyone laugh. That's it.
1:45.0	Okay and what makes it unique as a kind of performance?
1:49.0	Well it's very simple, you know, it's just very very simple, it's just a person and a microphone.
