Summary

In possibly our most graphic episode to date, I introduce to you Armin Meiwes, AKA the Rotenburg Cannibal. Sit back, kinda relax, and listen in for one of the craziest stories I’ve ever told, and please, don’t eat your friends. Today’s episode is sponsored by Wondery and the Los Angeles Time’s new show, Detective Trapp. Anaheim investigator Julissa Trapp is not like other detectives. She’s the only woman on the homicide squad, and a skilled chameleon: undercover cop in vice stings, crime-scene commander, patient confidante of killers. A master interrogator, she invokes her personal experience – and deepest griefs -- as a tool to elicit confessions. When a young woman’s body is found at a trash-sorting plant, Trapp learns the murder may be linked to the disappearance of three other women in nearby Santa Ana. Trapp embarks on a dark journey that brings her face to face with a man who takes “a little piece of her soul.” Listen now at Wondery.fm/CultDT See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

1:00.0

But I've had some weird social kick the past week or so. Hear me out. I am normally the past like I would say like year I've really gotten into a space of where I love being home.

1:12.0

I think part of it is because I'm gone so much for work or other things or traveling so I don't get to be home that much.

1:21.0

So when I am home I'm like I don't want to do anything. I don't want to talk to anyone. I've also gotten into the habit I record most weekends.

1:29.0

Like so most of my recording happens on Sundays and so Saturdays I kind of do some prep for it and then I record on Sundays.

1:35.0

So I really just don't have a life that much right now but I've been going out a bit lately which is super fun.

1:41.0

And I guess the more I have fun the later later these episodes are so no but it's been good but I did get some downtime over the weekend to one get Disney plus which everyone is talking about.

1:55.0

And two I watched death of a cheerleader they are streaming it on Amazon Prime shout out to the Colt Bay of on Twitter who let me know that it was up there but yeah you guys can go watch it on Amazon Prime and I watched it and I shared my thoughts on my Instagram stories and if you're not following me on Instagram as Winter Henry you're missing out on some great a quality content but it was good.

2:23.0

So I was doing that and I started going through some of my DM request on the Colt leader Instagram and there's so many good episode ideas on there I love all of the shit that you guys send me I may not get to respond to all of them but I do my best and I at least save all of your guys suggestions on this big master file that I have.

2:44.0

So the one that really stood out to me this weekend was what that I've been wanting to cover for such a long time and I cannot believe that I haven't.

2:52.0

I feel like I say this about a lot of episodes but really I like share my favorites of my favorites with you guys.

2:58.0

And so today's episode I'm warning you gets real graphic like very very graphic my other warning for today's episode is that it is a German case and so it has German names and towns.

3:12.0

And so I'm guarantee I'm going to pronounce probably all of them wrong and that's just going to happen.

3:17.0

So let's get to it. We are talking about the Hultenburg cannibal, Armin Mives.

3:25.0

Armin was born on December 1st 1961 in Castle Germany. His childhood was said to be a lonely one.

3:32.0

His dad seemed like kind of an asshole never really showed much interest in what Armin was doing when he was a young boy and he actually ended up leaving the family when Armin was just eight years old never to have contact with them again.

3:45.0

So now it was just Armin. He was left with his overbearing mother and he had to find solace in his imagination.

3:52.0

He created a fictitious brother he called Frankie who would quote unquote listen to what he was saying unlike his mother.

3:59.0

So you can kind of picture his mom was a little bit distant too. I'm not really sure what she was doing with her life there was there's not a ton of information out there on Armin's mom or dad or any of them really.
