Hello heroes and welcome to another exciting episode of one shot. I'm Tracy Barnett, your host and narrator.

Heroes this week we are starting a brand new series of a game called Monsters and Other Childish Things.

Now this game has been around for a while.

It is one of the earlier indie RPGs that I ever discovered and I, for the life of me, could not figure out how to run it when I was first reading it.

This is not a fault of the game. I was so immersed in how Dungeons and Dragons worked that I literally could not conceive of how the mechanics of this game

functioned. The dice mechanics alluded me, collaboration alluded me, I just, I couldn't get it.

And then when I needed to pull together this group to do some recording,

it seemed like it would be a great fit thematically. And upon reading it, it turns out

when you've spent some years playing and designing

indie RPGs you are potentially much more capable of figuring out other

indie mechanics. So monsters and other childish things is a game where you play

kids who have real quote-unquote

imaginary monsters. They are real no shit monsters they can do a lot of damage and they

want nothing but to protect you but they're also monsters.

It's a really great game you can still pick it up.

It's still kind of rings true even after almost a decade since its publication and we had a really
