This is, I think, one of the more important physical illustrations that Christ gives.

In fact, I think what Jesus says in this passage is so important, so radical, so significant, that if you get it,

it will forever change what you think about parenting. How's that for an introduction?

It really is that kind of passage. For no tree bears bad fruit, good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit.

For each tree is known by its own fruit.

For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good.
