Moved in like a...

Yeah. Kevin McCarthy out as speaker of the house in a shocking development yesterday. Historic. Historic. I was very surprised when it was rumored that this was going to, you know, come up. I thought for sure I was like, oh, no way that's going to happen. Just because it's never happened before. I thought the motion to table was going to pass. Yeah. It seemed like it. Everybody was saying, you know, what's his name? The chair of the houseways and means was like, this is a massive waste of time. It sounded like it was going to be DOA. And then those eight Republicans, well, 11 Republicans voted against the table in motion. Then there were eight that voted for the vacate. Yeah, the eight that voted to vacate, Gates, Biggs, Buck, Burchett, Crane, Good, Mace, and Rosendale. So here's the thing.

While I am happy that McCarthy is gone, because everybody that listens to this podcast knows how I felt about him. I'm a little bit

1:12.8

concerned for a number of reasons, but there is some positive signs today that my concerns

1:19.6

are not going to become an issue. Now, when this all was happening, yesterday as saying, you know,

1:24.2

the devil you know is better than the devil you don't, because we could have ended up with somebody worse.

1:29.8

However, it seems as if the people who previously had passed on running for speaker

1:36.3

because either A, they didn't want the job, or B, couldn't, you know, get to the 218,

1:43.4

now are going to run. And includes the great jim jordan who i think a lot of hardcore conservatives are now coalescing around um you also have steve skelis who i think is a good choice uh you know slightly more establishment but also a rock solid conservative. I'm just worried about his health, though. Sure, sure. But, you know, if he thinks he is healthy enough to run for it, like, listen, if he thought he was going to drop dead tomorrow, he wouldn't run for the job. Yeah. I know him. Yeah. And in the past, that's the reason he didn't run. Yeah. But both of those men are staunch upgrades over Kevin McCarthy. I'm surprised Jim Bankston went to... Jim Banks is running for Senate. He is running for Senate. Yeah, which is way more important. We need that Indian seat. Oh, my God, that was months ago. It's a little silent. It's in the background, but he's in a good position out there. Yeah, taking over, because Mike Braun is leaving, right? Yes.

2:37.6

Yeah.

2:36.3

Yeah. in the background, but he's in a good position out there. Yeah, taking over, because Mike Braun is leaving, right?

2:37.3

Yes.

2:37.6

Yeah.

2:39.7

Yeah. He's going for governor, I think.

2:41.5

Oh, no, he was governor. I don't know.

2:43.0

I'm so confused.

2:47.3

Indian is one of those states he kind of just let happen because the Republicans are going to win.

2:52.6

So yeah, both of those guys would be major upgrades over Kevin McCarthy.

2:55.2

Stefanik is also apparently running.

2:58.0

I don't think that she's going to beat either of those guys out.
