What's up Chris? What's up everybody? Nick here in Italy on the Ligurian coast, northwest

coast of Italy, sitting in my wife's families, grove of olive trees, watching the sunset,

and I've had a few strange days here. I've been working with a gardener and we work in

these really nice villas for people who have second homes here on the coast by the sea,

by the Mediterranean and they come from the cities and spend a few months out of the

year living in these big beautiful homes with pools and views of the sea and sometimes

I watch my boss kind of getting a hard time from these people. They're kind of telling

them what to do. Like, oh, like, cut this plant. Oh, make that one grow better. Like, this

one's too dry. This one's got too much water. I'll move this plant there and they're all

ornamental plants. You can't eat any of them and they don't, you know, these folks don't

put their hands in the earth and there's just this kind of strange disconnection from the

place. I've been noticing and this, like, an angst that comes with that and then I got

this audio message from my buddy in Thailand and he's telling me about his girlfriend's

family in Thailand and when his girlfriend was young her dad cut down a tree and built

their house and has been growing garlic and carrots and other vegetables to support the

family all his life. It's just crazy. These different levels of connection and disconnection.
