Summary

Results from the TN Delayed Season Start Study This week, Dr. Craig Harper and Dr. David Beuhler with the University of Tennessee join Cameron and Andy on the show to discuss their recommendations from their 7 year study regarding the effects of delaying the start of turkey seasons and the potential for increase in poult recruitment. The results of the study showed that moving the start of hunting season to later in the year did not greatly affect the initiation of nesting or the start of incubation for wild turkey hens. Drs Buehler and Harper share the details of the study and upcoming vote to possibly change the start date of the turkey hunting season. This is a very informative interview with information that can be applicable for any states that are considering moving the start date of their seasons to later in the year. Listen in!
