Enchanted this time. Indeed. Ella Enchanted, based on the book by Gail Carson Levine,

a beloved film for many. It did not do very well at the box office, but I think has been reappropriated as a bit of a cult thing.

I have never seen this movie before.

I'm so curious to know what you thought.

I thought this movie was weird.

I think the tone is very weird, where like it simultaneously wants to be like sort of family friendly with like fairy

tales, but also kind of wants to make it a little bit more mature and a bit edgier, but does

not want to go too far with that edge at all. And then absolutely wants to ignore how fucking

dark this whole storyline is.

Yeah.

There's especially one scene that might be the darkest thing I've ever seen in a movie.

And then also, like, I don't know, I feel like maybe none of this movie had to happen at all, and I will get into that.

I think I feel very similarly, so I'm looking forward to that.

I think Anne Hathaway is very good, and I can see why this was sort of like a natural step after princess diaries.
