Kirtley. Hello and welcome to episode 48 of Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.

Hi, I'm John Joseph Adams. I'm the editor of Lightspeed and Fantasy magazine

and I've also edited several anthologies such as The Way of the Wizard,

which features tales of wizardry and witchcraft from authors such as Neil Gaiman, George Martin,

and our guest this week, Leb Grossman. And I'm David Barr Hurley.

I'm the author of many short stories including Family Tree, about a family of feuding

Wizards who live in a giant magical tree house.

This story appeared in John's anthology The Way of the Wizard that he just mentioned,

and another contributor he mentioned, Lev Grossman is our guest today.

He's a book reviewer for Time magazine and is the author of the fantasy novels The Magicians

and The Magician King, which take a skeptical look at the idea that

going to a wizard school or traveling to a magical kingdom would be all wonder and adventure.

Okay, so first of all, just tell us about your new book, The Magician King.

What's it about?

Right. My new book, The Magician King, is a sequel to The Magicians.

And it picks up where the Magicicians left off more or less.

It's about two people, principally.
