Crayven the Hunter, he is a classic version of the big game hunter trope.

It's sort of more of a leftover notion from the early at the 20th century.

So Ashley, I need to ask you this in the 21st century, you know, in 2023.

Are we past the big game hunter as a villain trope for stories?

Or is there more story room for this?

It's a very early connotation of the 20th century, right?

Like where the world is unexplored, and we don't know what monsters look in the jungle.

So I've recently been reading a book that's a pastiche of the Isle of Dr. Moro, and there

is a character who's a big game hunter who's kind of a hero figure in that.

I do think it's dated.

I think the way that we're seeing the trope evolve in the modern age is like

presidents snow in the hunger games.

He's a big game hunter.

He's not a big game hunter, but he's that same sort of sadistic persona villain

where he wants to see violence done, but he's like a smarter architect of it.

So I think there's a way to still do Crayven in modern stories.

I just think you've got to go a little bigger scope with it.

Interesting, or you have to either niche down on it, like he's a very, he is this type

of hunter.

Yeah.

Like he only hunts this one specific snake who scales are made of adamantium or something.
