Chapter 10, which is labeled the Proverbs of Solomon, and it's a collection of a number of small

proverbs. A number of them have this two-line form, something but something, like the first nine,

which go like this. A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son

brings grief to his mother. Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers

from death. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the

wicked. Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.

He who gathers crops in the summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is

a disgraceful son. Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the

One thing that occurred to me just today when we were at church and they were talking about Jesus saying, I am the way, the truth, and the life,

is that when we talk here in Proverbs about paths and the correct path, another word for,

path is way, and Jesus talks about being the way, and so this is something that will continue on into a theme into the New Testament.
