Patience is a virtue because it cultivates inner strength and sound judgment. In a world that often feels rushed and demanding, the ability to wait calmly and tolerate delays empowers us to make clear-headed decisions rather than act impulsively. Patience helps us avoid acting out of frustration or anger, thus preventing hasty choices that could have negative consequences. It allows us to navigate challenges with a level head, helping us focus on long-term goals rather than short-term setbacks.
Moreover, patience fosters resilience and teaches us perseverance. When things don't go according to plan, patience grants us the fortitude to remain determined and optimistic. It reminds us that worthwhile achievements often take time and effort. Cultivating patience allows us to appreciate the process of growth and helps us handle adversity with grace, ultimately promoting greater peace and contentment in our lives.

0:00.0 | Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. I want to share an interesting story that happened to me very recently that surprised me |
0:16.0 | because I wasn't even aware of what I was doing. One of the biggest television events, |
0:21.1 | sporting events in the US that happens once a year is called the |
0:24.4 | Super Bowl. Well we just had it. I don't watch a lot of sports, very little actually, but I try |
0:29.8 | to watch the Super Bowl every year. Well I have a relative that lives in Arizona and she's |
0:35.6 | older in her 80s and she doesn't get out much anymore. So I invite her to come fly |
0:40.2 | to Arizona and spend some time with me and she also has a relative out here that lives |
0:44.5 | close by about two hours away and I was going to take her there to spend some time |
0:48.2 | without relative to who's also in her 80s. Well thankfully both of them wanted to watch the Super Bowl too and we decided to drive |
0:56.0 | out to her friend's house and spend some time there and watch the Super Bowl at her house. But when we talked |
1:02.1 | her about it we learned that she did have a |
1:04.0 | television and she had cable but she had never used it not once. So the |
1:08.8 | onus was on me to figure out how to make that television work so that we could |
1:12.1 | watch a Super Bowl. |
1:13.0 | Well, we arrived well before the Super Bowl started, so I had ample time to figure out how to make |
1:18.4 | the television work. |
1:19.4 | Well, I worked on it, and I worked on it, and I worked on it, and I worked on it, and I couldn't get it to work. |
1:24.8 | Thankfully, she lives in a retirement community, so I was able to go over to the main office |
1:29.5 | and ask their help since it was part of her plan to get free cable. |
1:33.0 | And then they had a man come over and he said, |
1:36.0 | you know what, she does have free cable, but she doesn't have a cable box. |
1:40.0 | So I thought, oh, okay, now what I'm going to do. |
