This encounter still troubles me to this day.

It was the summer of 2011.

I recently turned 12 and my family thought it would be a great summer for a cabin trip.

Normally, I would have been attending some sort of Boy Scout camp.

Since we are from Florida, we drove north to South Carolina with my grandparents coming

down from Canada to meet us.

The cabin itself was beautiful, with a great view of the lake and its own beachhead.

When we first arrived, I was first out of the car and running around an excitement.
