Summary

Summer is here, and the season of barbecues, block parties, and swimming pools may actually have more to offer for your investing practice than just a nice break from sitting in front of the computer. In this week’s truncated “tidbit episode,” Danielle reminds us that every conversation can be an opportunity to dig a bit deeper into an unfamiliar subject, and that a good value investor keeps their eyes, ears, and mind open to the wealth of knowledge and perspective that comes from the people in their life. To get a handle on your own investing practice for all 4 seasons, don’t miss out on your free copy of Phil Town’s 12-Month Financial Success Planner: https://bit.ly/45AP6Xh Learn more about your ad choices. Hey everybody welcome to Invested. I'm Danielle Town. Well Invested Tidbit I should say because it's me just quickly giving you a little something that I've been practicing with my investing practice since it's

0:25.6

gotten warm. I've been able to be outside a lot more obviously since summer and

0:29.9

since it's not perfectly cold and I have to be inside all the time, although it has been raining in Zurich for days and weeks and hopefully has stopped at this point.

0:41.0

So I've gotten to be with people a lot more, friends and I imagine that's

0:47.2

true for many of us. Summer barbecues, summer pool parties, summer beach, summer vacations, hopefully we all get to have a little bit of time doing those things.

0:58.0

And in that, I've been spending time with some people that I haven't seen much lately. In those

1:04.9

conversations I've been getting investing practice ideas because people we know know a lot of stuff and the stuff they know is different

1:18.4

than the stuff I know which is really obvious and also something I forget a lot of the time.

1:27.0

So I've been finding that with my little investing practice flag in the back of my head saying to me saying to myself

1:37.0

like you know maybe there's something here that would be interesting information

1:41.1

to learn I've actually been having really nice deeper conversations with friends about their expertise that we've never had.

1:51.0

And everybody knows that I've been an investor for a while, you know, but it's the kind of thing where in a normal conversation it would be kind of weird to keep asking questions about a particular topic that a friend knows about.

2:04.0

But I found that if I just say like, oh, you know, that's could be really interesting

2:10.0

from an investing perspective. People are so happy to share their knowledge and it's

2:17.6

connected us in a really beautiful way that hadn't happened before.

2:25.0

So I have been enjoying that

2:28.0

and as usual investing practice has led me actually to

2:36.3

learning more about people in my life and deeper relationships and is so much more about experience than about the results.

2:41.8

But results are cool too. So maybe these conversations will lead to something or

2:48.4

maybe nothing but all the background knowledge is going to be important one day. So enjoy those pool

2:55.2

parties, enjoy the dinners, enjoy the barbecues, and keep that little

2:59.8

investing practice voice in the back of your head. That's what I'm doing. Thanks everybody.
