Summary

As the Seattle Seahawks gear up for free agency, we are diving deep into the current state of the roster and what changes might be on the horizon for our Seattle Seahawks. With the NFL Combine approaching, we talk about the challenges of navigating the "lying season," where speculation runs rampant and misinformation is everywhere. In terms of roster needs, offensive line is the focus (of course), can John Schneider make the right moves this offseason to bolster the interior line? What would be the next biggest need for the Seahawks on offense? We also discuss the state of the defense, where salary cap cuts and potential free agents could have a bigger impact than on offense.

John Schneider was on 710 Seattle sports last week and had an opportunity to walk back his comments on guards being 'overdrafted and overpaid.' Has he learned anything from previous experience when it comes to the offensive line, the role of analytics in the draft process or taking running backs ahead of players in the trenches. At the Shrine Bowl this week, we caught up with Drew Kendall, an offensive lineman from Boston College and son of former Seahawks guard Pete Kendall. Drew discusses his journey to the Shrine Bowl and the importance of running the football in helping offensive linemen thrive. We close the show with Do Better and Better at life as we talk about emails and how we'd like to see the offseason go for our NFC West rivals.

This is the Sea Hawkers podcast. Episode 462. I'm Brandon Schultz, and I am joined by my good buddy, Adam

Amhert, as we are careening toward free agency, Adam. Yeah, careening. Let's hope it gets here sooner rather than later. Because here at the end of the February, this is, to me, this is one of my least favorite times a year. Not just football-wise, but just like, you know, overall. I mean, end of February, we're sick of the snow. It's warming up. It's gets sloppy. You can't do anything out there. It sucks.

There's no free agent news. There's no, you know, draft news. I mean, it's all just people just pulling stuff out of their butt and throw it out there. And then we all get speculated on it. So it was due. Our show was due for this week here. And so we have to do it. So are you ready to pull some things out of your butt, Brandon?

And talk about free to do it. So are you ready to pull some things out of your butt, Brandon?

And talk about free agency and stuff.

We got plenty to talk about, shoot, the combine is coming.

1:02.0

I think part of the reason why that we're in this dead period for news is because coming out of senior bowl and then moving into the combine, it's in this

1:13.6

period where there's not really, well, anybody who has news has to sort through it trying

1:20.7

to determine if it's just a bunch of smoke, if it is actual news, if it's a team trying to feed them misinformation, especially

1:29.7

leading into the draft and all the way up through the draft season, I feel like anything

1:34.3

that comes out in terms of where players rank or where they don't rank, it's all other

1:40.1

teams trying to screw with other teams and make people think that somebody should be drafted

1:45.4

higher who shouldn't be or somebody who is projected to draft high and they want to knock

1:50.1

them down a couple of things. Absolutely. Or some free agent they're interested in is,

1:54.4

is it really that good? They're not interested in trying to keep the market down. It's lying

1:58.3

season, baby. It's lying season.

2:04.4

And look, you're going to hear a lot of things from a lot of different people,

2:09.4

including people from organizations and agents and all of that.

2:11.8

And kind of take it with a great assault.

2:15.1

Because I think it's going to get wild.

2:19.2

Seahawks-wise over the next like three, four weeks in,

2:24.1

I'm kind of curious to see where it ends up here, but I don't know.
