Well, hello, hello, guys, you're listening to Beauty Bites with Dr. K., Secrets of a Plastic Surgeon and it's time for a five minute Friday.

0:22.4

Today we're going to learn all about facial taping. I know you guys are seeing this. This is an

0:28.3

internet phenomenon. Everyone is using facial taping to stretch and tighten their skin and prevent

0:35.3

wrinkles, so to speak. But does facial taping really reduce wrinkles

0:40.8

and fine lines? Maybe you haven't heard of this trend, but facial taping involves using

0:46.6

medical grade facial tape, applying it to areas of your face, and giving people the thought

1:29.9

and they're placed in order to look good during a scene and they're concealed while people are

1:35.2

wearing them and then they take them right off people also use facial taping at night to for example

1:41.6

tape their areas where they repeatedly frown. Some people actually frown in

1:46.0

their sleep. Did you know that? And that, of course, will prevent repetitive movement. It may help

1:51.8

with sleep lines if you lay an area flat, like in your decalete, but overall, facial taping will

1:57.9

cause more harm than good, and there are so many reasons.

2:01.6

Number one, repeatedly using tape on your face can damage your skin barrier and even tear

2:06.6

the skin and cause trauma to the underlying skin, and often that gives you pigmentation and

2:11.6

scarring.
