What started out as a passion project after moving to New York in 2010 developed into

a major Instagram presence, and then a tour business, and now his first book.

Today we'll explore Keith's journey, including his incredible project, walking every block

of Manhattan during the pandemic.

It's an experience that informed and ultimately contributed to his new book, Walking New York,

Manhattan History on Foot, a history lover's guidebook that traces the layers of history

that are hiding in plain sight.

Keith Tallien is a historian and freelance writer.

He received his undergraduate degree in history and his master's degree in urban planning from Hunter College.

Keith launched his Instagram account, Keith York City, in 2016 and since then has been informing and educating his nearly 60,000 followers about all aspects of New York City's history,

with incredibly in-depth and well-research posts that combine his own photographs, period photos, newspaper clips, and maps.

This has led to a phenomenally successful tour business, along with lecturing gigs,

freelance writing, and profiles about him, published in the Times of London, Condoness Traveler,
