Summary

As the Seahawks wrap up their season with Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, we debate the merits of closing out the season with a win, even if it's against a Rams team playing for nothing. Looking ahead to the offseason, there are two primary paths that make the most sense the Seahawks: tearing it down to focus on a rebuild or doubling down and sticking with a big part of the current roster. We talk about the key players, potential roster moves, and whether or not either option features offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb.

Coach Mike Macdonald says there are a handful of players who will be trying to hit some incentives for the season. How do the financial implications of Geno Smith's contract incentives play into the broader salary cap situation? In the second half of the show Adam pushes for the reasons why the Seahawks scenario of running it back should include Geno rather than trying to find another free agent to pursue -- but he does set a contract limit to where it would be too much. Sean Payton and anyone who suggests that Geno Smith should sit out Week 18 are called out in the Do Better segment, while a pair of Seahawks earn Better at Life honors.

I wish it started out a little better with the Seahawks still in playoff contention, but alas, the myriad of things that needed to go their way just didn't. And honestly, going down the stretch here over the last, I don't know, five, six weeks, Brandon, it seemed like any time another team could do us a solid along the way, It just didn't go our way. It's not going to do it. Now, with that said, you probably just need to take care of your own business, obviously. But still a bummer, I think. I would have rather playoffs and no playoffs. And I know for sure you're in the same boat. It takes you back to so many times throughout the season where you think, oh, if they

0:55.4

got to just done this one thing or, yeah, if another team had gone a little bit differently.

1:00.7

But I mostly think back to the times where it could have gone a little bit better for our own

1:06.3

team. And that way they don't have anybody to blame but themselves for being in the position

1:12.7

they're in.

1:13.7

And a big part of that was losing to the Rams earlier on this season.

1:18.1

And then, shoot, we were kind of lucky even to be in this position, Adam, after only beating

the Bears six to three on Thursday night football.

1:26.9

Yeah, we had our post- game reaction. And I think it

1:29.5

went a lot like, yeah, so that happened. And I guess it's a win. And it's about all you really

1:36.1

need to say about that game. Just, I guess the nice thing to come out of that is just another

1:41.3

good defensive performance that you can hang your hat on and actually see some growth on that side of the ball that's been consistent over the second half

of the season. But watching the offense be what it was with Gino being shoot maybe 65%. I mean,

1:56.6

he couldn't drive the ball at all. It just, it was tough. It was a tough watch.

2:02.1

It was.

2:02.8

And it's going to be a little bit of a tough watch this weekend.

2:07.2

I did tough in the sense playing the Rams that I have a hard time caring about an opportunity to beat the Rams in the final game of the season.
