0:17.4	Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. We're continuing on with Matthew 25. Matthew 25 is the last section of Jesus' public teaching. Next week, we'll do the last supper and we'll get into Good Friday.
0:31.1	The Parable of the Ten Virgins, Matthew 25, verse 1. At that time, the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out
0:39.6	to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their
0:45.9	lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their
0:51.4	lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became
0:55.8	drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight the cry rang out, here's the bridegroom, come out to meet him.
1:01.4	Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise,
1:06.2	give us some of your oil, our lamps are going out. No, they replied, there may not be enough for both us and you.
1:12.5	Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves. But while they were on their way to
1:18.9	buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who already went in with him to the wedding banquet,
1:25.1	and the door was shut. Later the others came, Lord, Lord, they said, open the door for us, but he replied, truly,
1:30.5	I tell you, I don't know you.
1:32.7	Therefore, keep watch because you do not know the day or the hour.
1:37.7	This parable really goes along with what happened in last chapter.
1:42.4	In last chapter, we were talking about end days. We were talking
1:44.6	about when Jesus would come again, when Jesus would come again, and that no one knew the hour of
1:50.2	the day, and it would be like the people in the days of Noah, where people were about their business
1:55.6	until the rain started and the door of the ark was closed, and it was too late. And this is a very similar
2:01.6	story and it follows on immediately after. And I think the reason it follows on is probably
2:06.2	more obvious to us than it would have been to the disciples because he's talking about in the
2:12.7	previous chapter when he's coming again. And in this one he's saying, the bridegroom has been delayed.
