0:23.4	Chapter 23, we have three different chapters left to go before we get into the very last part of the story, the part with
0:31.4	Good Friday and the Last Supper and all of that. We have two different sections on teaching and one that is
0:39.6	about the end times, one that is about what's going to happen later on. This section today in
0:45.1	Matthew 23 follows right after Matthew 22. You may remember Matthew 22 is the last questions
0:51.6	the teachers of the law, the Pharisees, and the Sadducees have for Jesus.
0:56.0	And at the end of it, it ended with, and after that point, no one dared ask him any more questions.
1:01.3	Well, Jesus wasn't done with the conversation because he launches in here into Matthew 23 some condemnation of the teachers of the law. And it goes like this. Matthew 23, verse 1,
1:15.9	then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, the teachers of the law and the Pharisees
1:20.8	sit in Moses seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you, but do not do what they do, for they do not practice
1:29.2	what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders,
1:34.5	but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Everything they do is done for
1:39.4	people to see. They make their philactories wide and their tassels on their garments long.
1:45.1	They love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues.
1:50.0	They love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called rabbi by others.
1:54.7	But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.
2:00.2	And do not call anyone on earth father, for you have one father and he is in heaven.
2:04.6	Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah.
2:09.2	The greatest among you will be your servant.
2:11.6	For those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
