Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen. We have one story here in Matthew 20,

which is Jesus on the road to Jericho. Now, that's significant here because chapter 21 is going

to start with Palm Sunday. So basically here in Matthew 21, which we'll do today, we've reached

Holy Week. We've reached that week

between Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter. And this story with Jesus here in Matthew 20

that we're about to read is with him in Jericho, which is, as I look at Google Maps, maybe

20, 22 miles from Jerusalem, he's

been heading south from the Sea of Galilee, and he is almost in Jerusalem at time for Passover

and for what will be a very eventful week. And in the midst of that, this happens. Two blind men

receive their sight. As Jesus and his disciples were leaving

Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard

that Jesus was going by, they shouted, Lord, son of David, have mercy on us. The crowd rebuked them

Lord, son of David, have mercy on us. Jesus stopped and called them. What do you want me to do for you?

He asked. Lord, they answered, we want our sight. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes.

Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

Now, I find it interesting to put this in the context of Jesus literally has his sights

turned on Jerusalem. He is heading towards Jerusalem to what he knows, what he's told the disciples

now three or four times already, will be his death. His death

and his resurrection, but he's talked to them about the fact that he's going to be turned over

to the Jewish leaders and died. And that's what is in front of him, but he has time for this
