I'm the Get Fit Guy and today we're going to talk about whether or not fitness apps really help you get fit. I mean, the research results are mixed, but the apps that actually stand out do so |
0:23.6 | because of a human element. It was way back in 2009 that Apple actually trademarked the term, |
0:33.6 | there's an app for that. Back then, it was mostly just, well, a good marketing slogan. |
0:40.2 | But fast forward 10 years, and it's pretty much gospel, Android users are currently able to choose |
0:47.0 | between 2.1 million apps, while Apple's App Store has almost 1.8 million available. |

2:07.6 | lead to weight loss, and I referenced one study from September in 2016 that was called |
2:13.0 | The Effect of Wearable Technology combined with a lifestyle intervention on long-term weight loss. |
2:19.8 | Now, that study and a few others showed that people who dared to go without a fitness tracker, |
2:26.9 | while they lost more weight, eight pounds on average, than their tracker-wielding friends. |
2:32.9 | But this study only focused on weight loss, not on fitness. |
