Summary

This week Kristen is joined by Josh Goldberg, executive director of Boulder Crest, a wellness center for Veterans, Marine’s and their families. They discuss everything from PTSD to searching for the meaning of life to quadruple amputees and how they find the hope to keep going. They also talk about the book Josh co-authored called Struggle Well as well as his childhood as an “indoor Jew.” And, naturally, they also discuss 90’s boybands. Hey, it's that time of the week again. It's mentally chill time. I'm your host Kristen Carney,

0:05.2

and if you know me, you know that the word excite or excited is something I don't use often

0:14.6

and definitely don't use lightly, but I will say in all honesty, I am very excited for this

0:20.0

week's show. I did something a little differently, I am very excited for this week's show.

0:23.9

I did something a little differently than I normally do.

0:27.8

I normally have people on that I'm familiar with or know.

0:38.0

And the reason I do that is because I can kind of guarantee some sort of banter or conversation flow.

0:41.9

And so normally I don't like to have people on that I don't really know because I don't want to risk that.

0:43.5

But this was totally worth the risk because I have Josh Goldberg on who is the executive

0:48.5

director of this place called Boulder Crest.

0:51.6

And Boulder Crest is essentially a rehabilitation center for veterans and

0:58.2

military, military family, all sorts of things that I would never, ever get involved in.

1:04.8

Because I am a coward. Just kidding. I'm very brave. No, I'm not. Anyway, it's a really interesting show. Josh has a lot of

1:14.4

great insight beyond PTSD. And he has a book coming out called Struggle Well, because he advocates for

1:22.9

not trying to fight struggling, but accepting that you're going to struggle and doing it well. So that's

1:28.8

coming out in May. So it's a really good show. Stick around for it before I allow you to the other

1:34.8

side of the wall, which is the show. I of course have to say thank you to everyone on Patreon.

1:40.7

Thank you for being amazing. Thank you for supporting the show. Just had a really good Skype session with

1:45.7

someone from Patreon. And that's something that I do for a certain level of donation. We Skype for about

1:52.7

45 minutes or an hour and you can ask me anything and all that kind of stuff. It's fun. It's a really

1:58.1

it's not as I at first when I started doing it, I was

2:02.3

really afraid of it. And then I've learned that it's actually a very enjoyable thing. So
