In this week, we are heading to Grand Central.

Grand Central Depot. Station Terminal. Call it what you will.

I am going to make one of my outlandish proclamations.

I think that Grand Central Terminal is the most important building in New York City.

Absolutely, almost without a doubt.

The most important.

I think it is. How is that?

It brings in thousands of people who feed into New York City's industries.

As we will find out, in the building of Grand Central, it actually kind of created the shape of Midtown Manhattan.

Most importantly, it created Park Avenue.

And unlike its longtime competitor, Grand Central is still standing.

It's a story of a millionaire. It's a story of a few train accidents.

It's a story of the introduction of electricity into the city in a very important way.
