28 years ago this week, I was one of the people who found Jennifer Lewis's burning body in the schoolyard of Jefferson Elementary School in Davenport, Iowa.

When I walked across that field toward what I thought at the time would be a minor fire,

I had no idea what I would see would be affecting my life nearly three decades later.

Standing Liggins, who stands accused of raping and strangling Jennifer before dumping her body, dousing it with gasoline,

and setting on fire, is being tried a third time for her murder. In 1993 and 1995, Iowa juries

convicted him, and both of those convictions were overturned by appellate courts. For the past three and half weeks,

jurors in Waterloo, Iowa heard evidence in a third trial. Wednesday morning, lawyers presented

in passion closing arguments. Stanley Liggins' fate now rests in the hands of 12 jurors.

Deliberations began Wednesday afternoon, and we await their verdict.

Suspect convictions has been downloaded millions of times by listeners throughout the world,
