Summary

Join Ari and me in the bar at The Jane Hotel, in the West Village, where we talk about the debilitating effects of New York weed on Ari’s vocabulary, how to deal with dismissive (but hot) waitresses, what lies beyond atheism, why there are no Scientologist comics, and why you can’t get decent placebo pills at CVS anymore—among other urgent matters.

the first couple, the P's were popping and it wasn't working, so I'll do my best with

this and then we'll get right into the podcast. I'm at a place called Shishai, which is a few

1:03.4

hours north of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. I'm at a friend's beach house, if you hear birds

1:10.8

sing in or waves crash in, those are Mozambique and birds and the waves are Indian ocean waves

2:13.4

have a boat, you go out on the boat for a week, you say thank you, that was wonderful and you leave

2:17.9

and he's got to deal with the barnacles, you know, in the taxes and the docking fees and the

2:26.3

repairs and the maintenance and all the bullshit that comes with boats and I think we can

2:31.9

extrapolate from that to two other things, other elements of life. But anyway, here I am, you know,

2:38.8

I was on this 130 foot yacht a couple months ago off the coast of Canada and now we're at a beautiful

2:45.7

beach house in Mozambique, probably if you put a drove a nail through the earth perpendicular to

2:54.4

Vancouver, you might come out in Mozambique, I'm not sure, certainly not far from here.

3:00.4

Like when you used to say if you dug a hole deep enough you'd come out in China or what's

3:04.5

that kind of thing. Anyway, Mozambique, amazing, interesting place, great fruit, great seafood,

3:11.7

really, really good seafood, happy people, interesting post-colonial scene here. I don't know,
