Now pasture the priest, the son of Emir, who is chief officer in the house of the Lord, heard

Jeremiah prophesying these things.

Then Paschru beat Jeremiah the Prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin

gate of the house of the Lord.

So very humbling passage to see Jeremiah proclaiming, proclaiming the word of God, and as a result of proclaiming

God's word, he's beaten and put in the stocks.

I automatically think about brothers and sisters around the world for whom

that verse is a reality today.

We have brothers and sisters who today proclaim the word of God, share the word of God.

Maybe a pastor who stood up and preached the word.

Maybe just a man or woman in a village somewhere where they shared the word of God and they were

immediately beaten by friends, family,

government officials.

This is a reality for our brothers and sisters

in different parts of the world right now.

And,

Jeremiah 21 and 2 is a reminder of the faithfulness,

of the follower of God even in the midst of threats to their own danger,

to proclaim the word of God even when it costs.
