Summary

In this solo episode, I dive into the messy magic of self-discovery and what it really means to show up as your full, authentic self—even if that means not everyone likes you. We talk nervous systems, emotional regulation, and why those “activated” moments are actually gold for growth. I break down the power of choosing relationships that choose you back and why chasing the unavailable just isn’t it. You’ll hear why your body might be your biggest spiritual guide, and how embracing all of you—yes, even the shadowy bits—can lead to deeper connection, bigger love, and a life that feels wildly aligned. Hello and welcome to a solo episode of the podcast. For those of you who don't know me, my

0:06.0

name is Mark Groves and I'm obsessed with understanding ourselves, really, understanding

0:11.6

human behavior, the human condition, and really the information that gets revealed to us

0:17.8

through the frictions that we have in our lives. I just think that those

0:21.5

frictions are most often relational, and that might be the area that offers us the most motivation,

0:28.0

love. And I really believe that it is our purpose in this lifetime to become the most realized version of ourselves that we are meant

0:42.0

to step into our highest potential. And there's this idea that if you don't eat everything

0:48.6

on the table in this lifetime, you're going to have to come back. And so I think about this as a form of responsibility to step into the highest level of

1:00.1

alignment or integrity with what I know to be true.

1:03.8

And listen, this is how I decide to live.

1:06.6

You don't have to live like that.

1:08.1

And it would be beautiful if we could all attain some sort of experience

1:13.2

where we're all just floating through life and nothing impacts us emotionally.

1:18.0

But as that saying goes to be in the world, but not of the world,

1:21.9

we're still in this 3D experience.

1:24.2

And although there's lots of suggestion that this might be a simulation,

1:31.5

in this simulation, my character, my archetype, my meat suit has defensiveness sometimes

1:40.1

and righteousness and all the things that we do. So I want you to humanize that your reactivity

1:47.3

is a normal response to the circumstances of life. And the purpose of life is not to go through

1:52.8

it being regulated all the time because you actually need to be dysregulated. You need

1:58.6

to fight, flight, freeze, fall. They serve you. You need to step into action when you need to step into action. You don't have time to be disregulated. You need to fight, flight, freeze, fall. They serve you. You need to step

2:01.5

into action when you need to step into action. You don't have time to be talking about feelings
