I'm sure because you have a new book called The Secret History of Transubstantiation pulling

back the veil on the Eucharist with your co-author, Father Christian Capis, and it is an extraordinary,

a very detailed kind of history of this, of the formation of this idea of Transubstantiation.

It really is, and I have to say that when we began working on this project, very much

a labor of love, we were really blown away at the amount of very clear evidence of Transubstantiation

all throughout history. Now, we've always known that all of the early church fathers unanimously

taught, and we're talking about those that were orthodox, meaning that they tiny, oh, they taught,

they were part of the One True Church, they were not heretical. They all believed the body and the

blood of Christ became present after the words of consecration, but in terms of actually utilizing

words that emphasize a transformation or a Transubstantiation, even though that word, that particular word,

comes later, they use different words such as in Greek, the Greek fathers were to utilize

the metuceas, and it was used from a very early period on, and they were harkening two elements

that were changed in Scripture, and very clearly this is not only is it biblical, but above all,

it is ancient and has been the heart of the church from the very beginning.

In a certain way, I mean, as a catechetical term, Transubstantiation, we kind of all receive it,

as one might say, almost as canned goods, you know, that, oh, yeah, there it is, Transubstantiation,

but that can, as helpful as that is, because you do need to know, I mean, you're seven years old

or whatever, and you need to be prepared for the reception of the Eucharist, so you have some

terms to hang your mental capacities on, but the fact is there is also a side effect of

the idea is so well developed, and it's handed on to us as something that's in the pull out of

the Catechism book, an explanation that we can forget the kind of shocking beauty of what works,

what this is, and what the church went through to understand this.
