Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.

| 0:09.0 | And today I want to look at Psalm, chapter 25. I want us to consider a theme that we see |
| 0:16.3 | running throughout the Psalms. In fact you see this theme dominantly |
| 0:20.6 | throughout the Proverbs as, and throughout all scripture. |
| 0:25.0 | And the concept that I'm talking about is one that's known as the fear of the Lord. |
| 0:34.0 | And for many of us, that phrase |
| 0:37.0 | makes us kind of shudder or feel uncomfortable |
| 0:40.0 | because we don't want to think about God in a way that makes us fearful of him. |
| 0:48.6 | And perhaps that's because authority figures in our life before that we have felt fearful of have been doing it wrong in terms of the authority that they wield. |
| 0:59.0 | You see, the fear of the Lord is something people try to get around in various ways. |
| 1:07.6 | For the sake of their own comfort, they don't want to think of God as someone they would fear. |
| 1:14.0 | And so they redefine it as respect. |
| 1:17.0 | And they'll say, oh, it means to respect God. |
| 1:20.0 | Well, yes, it does mean that, but it means more than that. |
| 1:24.6 | They'll say, well, it means to honor God. |
| 1:27.4 | Well, yeah, it does mean that, but it means more than that. |
| 1:31.6 | Because Jesus himself said, do not fear those who can take your life |
| 1:36.0 | so he's talking about people but rather fear him who can send body and soul to hell. |
| 1:46.3 | I tell you that is who you should fear. |
| 1:48.8 | Now who is that? |
| 1:49.7 | That is God himself. |
| 1:51.2 | Jesus is talking about God, the judge, the one who will call us to account for |
